Stratford-on-Avon MP calls for funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to be protected following Chancellor’s statement.
New Liberal Democrat MP for Stratford-on-Avon, Manuela Perteghella, has called for The UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) to be protected following the Chancellor’s statement to the House of Commons on the dire financial situation facing the country last week.
In the Statement, Reeves said that a number of infrastructure projects faced the prospect of being cut in order to balance the book following years of Conservative economic mismanagement. Local Liberal Democrat MP Manuela Perteghella said that this should not include the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Manuela Perteghella said that her constituents “cannot wait any longer” for the previously promised investment in our area’s community facilities, village halls, local businesses, and more. Cuts to the UKSPF would see Stratford on Avon miss out yet again on getting a fair deal for our area.
Manuela has called to protect funding for the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Liberal Democrat MP for Stratford-on-Avon, Manuela Perteghella said:
“We must be clear. The Conservative party’s economic mismanagement has severely damaged public finances, left services in disarray, and stretched household budgets.”
"The Chancellor's efforts to rebuild our economy must not sideline critical investments like the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which allocated £3.6 million to Stratford-on-Avon and an additional £1,015,143 from the Rural England Prosperity Fund. These funds are essential for enhancing productivity, improving public services, boosting community pride, and empowering local leadership, ensuring a balanced and inclusive economic recovery in our area.”
