Save Our Ticket Offices
Like many residents, I am disappointed that West Midland Railways is proposing to close the tickets office at Stratford upon Avon station. Removing tickets offices from our station will not modernise the railway, but cause confusions, and safety issues. Staffed tickets offices are a lifeline for vulnerable passengers, the elderly and disabled, and for the thousands of visitors to our historic town. Staff at ticket offices can clarify any changes to the itinerary, remind of ticket restrictions, point to platform numbers when changing for onwards trains and help with booking tickets for more complex journeys. These are all essential services for passengers. For passengers who have mobility and sight issues, a staffed ticket office can help and assist with their journey, and provide a sense of safety. With these proposed closures, there is no guarantee staff will be available when we need help, and the proposals will exacerbate digital exclusion. Sign my petition below to call on West Midlands Railways to drop plans to shut the only ticket office in our local area and protect this essential service for rail users.
